Every trial will begin with a filled square at the center of the screen. Please look at that.
Then a left or right black arrow will appear, and you will have to press left or right arrow button, respectively, with your right hand. Please try to respond as quickly and accurately as possible.
In some trials, the arrow can suddenly turn red. Try to stop your response if this happens. The experiment is designed such that you won’t be able to stop always, but try your best.
Please do not slow down, or ignore the red arrow, to try to bias your response to a certain type of trials. The trials where you’re supposed to respond and those where you are not, are equally important.
At the end of the trials, your performance will be displayed.
Pass criteria: (a) Average response time within 300-600 ms, (b) Correct response > 90%, (c) Correct stopping roughly half the time.
